Cottage – Godstone

The Enterdent is a cluster of cottages within a wooded valley just outside Godstone Village dating back to the mid 1800’s. This property, which was originally two cottages, had been unsympathetically knocked into one during the 1970’s. The altered house still retained two separate staircases and had interconnecting bedrooms. The brief was to utilise all available space, subtly updating the 'feel' of the cottage but retaining as much of the original character as possible. After careful planning and consultation with the owners, the first floor was reconfigured, adding a small nursery room, and the master bedroom gained a contemporary en-suite shower room. A more traditionally styled family bathroom was fitted that reflected the age of the property, and the inclusion of a downstairs cloakroom and enlargement of the kitchen was made possible by removing one of the staircases.

Lucy and I wanted to thank you very much for the fantastic job you and your team did renovating 5 The Enterdent.

As our first major renovation project, your experience, guidance and communication throughout the whole process was an absolute God-send. We were initially nervous of builders and their “reputations” in general, however upon meeting you we felt an immediate sense of trust.

We found the service you provided extremely professional, from the first meeting to the final project sign off, and both yourself and your colleagues a pleasure to deal with.

Your pragmatic approach to problem solving, and your communication and advice in dealing with unexpected issues made us feel at ease. The trust we built with you over our time working together allowed us to rest assured your suggested solutions were the best way forward for the integrity of the build and not just a way to ramp up your profits!

The quality of your work is exemplary — it was extremely important to us to maintain the cottage feel of our 1858 property, and through your advice and attention to detail, we think we’ve achieved this.

The clearly planned out project document, the way you met your deadlines with time to spare, and your invoicing process which allowed us to plan the finances in advance and avoid any nasty financial surprises further down the line were a credit to you.

The cherry on the top has been your after-care service — the speed with which you have ironed out any subsequent issues since we’ve moved back in has been very impressive, and your gesture of flowers and a welcome home letter when we moved back in doesn’t take a lot, but it means so much to us, earns you spades of goodwill and positive word of mouth, and perfectly sums up the way you go about your business. It is what sets you aside from the rest!

We would have no hesitation in being a referee and reference location site for your good work, and we will without doubt pass your details to friends and family who are considering any building works in the future.
